Shemina has established Ascendant as a leader in international payments since being appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2019. A proven leader with over 20 years of experience in payments, Shemina is responsible for sales, marketing, payment and banking operations, and product management. Most recently, Shemina played an integral role in the sale of Ascendant to Battery Ventures in 2023.

Before joining Ascendant, Shemina was the Director of Business Development for Custom House Global Foreign Exchange. She led global marketing and business development initiatives including evaluating and implementing partner and acquisition opportunities. Shemina was also directly involved with the development of the proprietary online systems for both businesses and individuals.

Shemina has also spent five years owning and operating her own hotel development located in the Canadian Rockies. Shemina was named as part of Money 20/20's inaugural Rise Up cohort and currently sits on the board of Special Olympics Ontario.
