Ryan Schmiedl is the Global Head of Embedded Finance and Solutions for J.P. Morgan Payments. He leads efforts to protect the firm and clients from fraud and financial crimes while advancing AI-driven payment solutions. He oversees product, engineering, and machine learning teams building client-facing and back-office capabilities for J.P. Morgan Payments, drawing on 20+ years in product management, software engineering, and applied machine learning.

Previously, Ryan was General Manager, Fraud & Financial Crimes Prevention at Amazon Web Services, leading scientists, engineers, product/program managers, and investigators. He helped launch Amazon Fraud Detector, reduce fraud losses, improve customer friction, and support moving the AWS commerce platform to China to meet regulatory commitments.

Earlier, he was VP of Product & Engineering at SAS Institute and led SAS’ Fraud & Financial Crimes business. Ryan holds an MBA and BS from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
