Maria Martinez is the President/CEO of Border Federal Credit Union, a Community Development Financial Institution in Del Rio, TX, with over $250 million in assets, 5 service locations and 27,000+ members. She is a passionate advocate for underserved, Hispanic communities and has led impactful financial inclusion initiatives.

She serves as Associate Director on Velera’s Board, Chairwoman of CUNA’s Strategic Services Board, and Chair of the National Association of Latino Credit Unions & Professionals. Maria is also a founding member and Secretary of the Credit Union Women’s Leadership Alliance, serves on the United Medical Centers Board and is a member of the CUInsight Advisory Council and America’s Credit Union’s World Affairs Committee.

Her leadership and advocacy have earned her national recognition, including induction into America’s Credit Union Museum’s “Herstory” exhibit, the Anne Vamper Helping Hands Award, and the prestigious Herb Wegner Memorial Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement.
