Chris Giancarlo, nicknamed “Crypto Dad,” is a former Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), serving from 2017 to 2019 after being a Commissioner since 2014. He played a key role in bringing Bitcoin futures to regulated markets and launched LabCFTC to encourage innovation in digital assets. Before government service, he worked as a corporate lawyer and executive in financial services, including Fenics Software and GFI Group, which he helped take public. After leaving the CFTC, he co-founded the Digital Dollar Project to explore a digital forms of the US dollar. Today, he serves on multiple fintech and crypto advisory boards. Giancarlo is the author of CryptoDad: the Fight for the Future of Money (Wiley 2021) and The New Adventures of CryptoDad: The Quest for Financial Freedom in the 21str Century (Wiley, 2026).
