David Tait has been Chief Executive Officer of the World Gold Council since November 2018. With more than 35 years of experience in financial services, he has held senior roles at Credit Suisse, UBS, Goldman Sachs and BlueCrest Capital. He also serves on the Financial Markets Standards Board (FMSB) Advisory Council and chairs its Precious Metals Working Group.

A dedicated supporter of the NSPCC, David has raised more than £8 million for the charity through mountaineering expeditions, including five successful ascents of Mount Everest. In 2007, he became the first person to traverse Everest from the North to South route. He is a former NSPCC trustee and Chair of the Rebuilding Childhoods Board and was awarded an MBE for services to the charity.
