Carlos is the CEO of Stripe’s Merchant Acquirer Limited Purpose Bank, a de novo institution that provides direct card network membership and expands Stripe’s acquiring capabilities. Previously, he served as President of Consumer Banking at Discover, where he led its post-IPO diversification strategy and built Discover Bank into a top five online bank with $80 billion in deposits and $25 billion in lending assets. His leadership included launching new businesses in deposits, personal loans, student loans, and home loans, and driving industry-leading results in customer satisfaction and risk management. Earlier in his career, he held senior risk and operations roles at American Express.
