Ryan Schmiedl is the Global Head of Payments - Trust & Safety at J.P. Morgan Chase, responsible for protecting the bank and its clients from fraud and financial crimes. He oversees fraud detection, validation services, authentication, sanctions screening, and regulatory reporting for J.P. Morgan Payments. Additionally, he serves as the Payments Chief Data Officer.

Before joining the bank, Ryan was the General Manager of Fraud & Financial Crimes Prevention at Amazon Web Services, where he led a team to launch the Amazon Fraud Detector, significantly reducing fraud losses and enhancing customer experiences. Prior to Amazon, he was Vice President of Product at SAS Institute, where he guided the vision and roadmap for SAS' business analytic and machine learning software. He also led the Fraud & Financial Crimes business, introducing successful offerings like Anti-Money Laundering Prevention.

Ryan holds an MBA and a BS from Carnegie Mellon University.
